"We deal with tens of thousands of patients here who are positive, and a high percentage of them have adherence issues," said Mr. Weinstein.
No children had adherence <80% by either method.
Sixteen percent had adherence <95% by VAS, and 31% had adherence <95% by clinic-based pill count.
The relatively good agreement between VAS and clinic pill counts (Kappa = 0.52; 95%CI 0.34,0.70) resulted from 70% of children having adherence >95% with both methods.
Thirty-three percent of the patients had adherence <60% (Fig. 2).
Of the 1521 patients with adherence data, 118 (7.8%) had adherence of less than 95% and 1403 (92.2%) had adherence of 95% or above.

Using the uncapped annual average MR adherence, 47/115 (40.9%) of children had adherence >100%.
In the intermittent group, 14 (42 %) volunteers had adherence >80%% under relaxed definition, and under strict definition only one volunteer (3 %) had adherence >80%%.
Genes in these regions have previously been shown to have adherence functions [ 11, 35, 36, 51].
