By evaluating each model separately, they find that the unrestricted ARIMA model has a better performance in terms of the likelihood function; besides, the analysis of data rejects the possibility of zero correlation, whereas an unobserved components model that admits correlation leads to the same results than an equivalent ARIMA model.
The maximum log-likelihood increases as the number of groups increases because the model has a better fit for the data as the number of parameters increases.
