The IT hardware market will expand by 5% in 2013, a similar pace to the year before.

Although Oracle and H.P. have long been business partners, the two companies are also poised to increasingly compete in the hardware market.
The purchase of Sun caught a number of Oracle's investors off guard, since the company had avoided the hardware market in the past.
