Half-day students spend about two and a half hours at Cultural Arts, and the rest of their day at their local high schools for regular academic classes.
Most of the half-day students who attend Cultural Arts take four bus rides: one to their home high school, a second to the Syosset Boces, a third back to their school and a fourth back home.
Highlights include having lunch with an astronaut, a tour of Nasa space station and a half-day student astronaut training course, according to the letter sent to parents.
Although the Cultural Arts half-day tuition of $8,688 is slightly less than the half-day tuition at Nassau Tech, transportation expenses can mean a total cost to a school district of $15,000 per half-day student enrolled at the Syosset center.
