suspended solids concentration was greater (p<0.05) in flooded agricultural fields (283.3±98.7 mg l−1) than impounded wetlands (79.5±25.3 mg l−1) and an interaction of habitat and sampling date was detected on dissolved solids concentration (p<0.05).
In (b) the Palos Verdes region is considered because for this region it is possible to define subregional grouping based on habitat and sampling schemes [adjacent groups were defined as follows: (AB, AB2, AB3, ABR), (RP1, RP2), and (FR1, FR2). AMOVA were conducted in Arlequin using pairwise distances between populations.
At each net location, we measured habitat characteristics and sampled arthropod and fruit resources two-weekly.
Together, these strains provide a good cross-section of environmental and clinical sources (habitat), different geographical regions (space), and sampling dates (time; see Figure 1 and Additional file 1).
Finally, we showed that habitat availability and sampling design had not biased results, on the one hand by constraining daily dispersal movements and on the other hand by leading to under-sampling one of the sexes.
Two transects of pitfall traps were also set up, from the base to the peak of spoil mounds (one each in forest and open habitats), and were sampled from May 1998 to May 2001 in order to investigate the composition of resident (workers) and colonizing (virgin queen) ants in the community.
To cover the total height of each habitat and to sample a representative mosquito population, traps were set up to the canopy level for each habitat.
SDTF – Seasonal Dry Tropical Forest; Populations sampled with their identification code (ID), elevation above sea level, habitat description and sample size, analysed for nuclear and plastid markers in Epidendrum cinnabarinum (C) and E. secundum (S) from Northeast Brazil, distributed in the Caatinga (CAA) and Brazilian Atlantic Forest (BAF) biomes.
Benthic algal biomass varied depending on the study area and habitat sampled (Table 3).
This variability may have been caused by different hosts from which ticks were collected and different habitats in sampling sites.
This comparison of the distributions of hybrid and parental Phoxinus was intended to address the hypothesis that, over the range of lakes and habitats sampled in Algonquin Park, hybrids and parental species should be constrained to particular, and perhaps different, physiochemical environments.
