This study was conducted in 697 habitants with ages varying from 12 to 72 years old from the rural and urban areas of four departments in Colombia: Amazonas (n = 184), Chocó (n = 138), Magdalena (n = 218) and San Andres Islands (n = 156) (Figure 1).
These are: the proportion of households that received remittances in a given municipality in 2000, and the number of people aged under 15 per 1000 habitants in a given municipality.
Between 1991 and 1996, women aged 45 to 73 years and men aged 46 to 73 years, with residency in Malmö (approximately 250,000 habitants), were invited by mail and by newspaper advertisement to participate in the MDC.

Habitants living in urban, being never-married, having an increase in age, BMI, and siesta time per day are significantly associated with MetS, and they should be paid much more attention for screening and implementing preventive activities.
In our previous study, the female to male ratio of hip fracture for Iranian habitants in Zanjan province was 1.0 or less in almost all age-groups which is lower than that was reported in most western countries but it is similar to the low incidence rate of hip fracture areas in Asia such as rural areas in Turkey and Beijing, China [ 29, 30].
The morphometric definition of a fracture was used for this study because it provided more specific incidence data, with an age-standardized incidence ratio of 10.2 (95% CI 4.7 15.7) per 1000 habitants for the female southern European population because clinical fracture data were lacking.
