Kumi, also spelled Gumi, city, North Kyŏngsang (Gyeongsang) do (province), south-central South Korea.
Taegu, also spelled Daegu, city and provincial capital, North Kyŏngsang (North Gyeongsang) do (province), southeastern South Korea.
The eastern part, Gyeongsang, has traditionally produced the country's leaders (Mr Lee grew up there, though he was born in Japan).
It is bounded by the truce line (demilitarized zone) with North Korea (north), by the provinces of Kangwŏn (Gangwon; east) and North Kyŏngsang (North Gyeongsang) and South Ch'ungch'ŏng (South Chungcheong; south), and by the Yellow Sea (west).
The only province of South Korea with no seacoast, it is bordered by the provinces of Kangwŏn (Gangwon; north), North Kyŏngsang (Gyeongsang; east), North Chŏlla (Jeolla; southwest), South Ch'ungch'ŏng (west), and Kyŏnggi (Gyeonggi; northwest).
Pusan, also spelled Busan, city, port, and capital of South Kyŏngsang (South Gyeongsang) province (do), South Korea, located at the southeast tip of the Korean peninsula.
South Kyŏngsang, also spelled South Gyeongsang, Korean in full Kyŏngsangnam-do or Gyeongsangnam-do, do (province), southeastern South Korea.
It is bounded to the east by the East Sea (Sea of Japan), to the south by North Kyŏngsang (Gyeongsang) and North Ch'ungch'ŏng (Chungcheong) provinces, to the west by Kyŏnggi (Gyeonggi) province, and to the north by Kangwŏn province, North Korea.
