A shrinkage of both rhombic dodecahedral hosts and rod-shaped guests is observed after the pyrolysis process, while the surface roughness of the annealed particles increased (Fig. 4b, c).

However, as the sample is cooled to 240 K, diastereotopic geminal guest protons are observed for the guest in the major assembly (I), indicating a chiral extended capsule structure (this diastereotopic splitting can be observed more clearly in assembly I encapsulating n-C15H32: see Figure SI2a).
