Meniscal tissue from two separate areas were resected and classified into two groups for analysis: injured tissue from the meniscal site (IM), which included the meniscal lesions, and meniscal tissue from the non-injured site (NIM), which did not include tissue from the site of the meniscal lesion (Fig. 1).

If any age-specific licensing policy took effect at an age other than the ages used to define age groups for analysis (e.g., at age 77), the corresponding variable was weighted by the proportion of the population of the age group to whom the requirement applied.
We chose these criteria to define our groups for analysis because participants who received the Mechanistic Manipulation and were able to correctly answer one of the Mechanistic Assessment questions likely had more robust mechanistic knowledge of the robot compared to participants who did not receive or discover any information about the mechanism.
