The film proved immensely popular, holding the all-time box-office gross record for more than a decade after its release.
The five-star reviews which greeted the unveiling of Spectre raised expectations that the 24th official Bond film could match the $1.1 worldwide box office gross recorded by its predecessor Skyfall, the most lucrative instalment in the series to date.
It broke the box-office gross record for the first four days (besting Spider-Man), for an R-rated releases (besting Hannibal), for sequels, for its star Keanu Reeves and for movies where the characters are mostly dressed in black (besting Men in Black II).
The Los Angeles production took the local weekly gross record, again from a performance of The Producers, bringing in $1,786,110 in the week ending March 4, 2007.
However, box-office analysts don't expect Warcraft to trouble any Hollywood-import grossing records, such as Furious 7's total of $390m, let alone domestic record holder The Mermaid, which finished with $526m earlier this year.
It grossed $91.1 million on its opening Friday, setting a Friday-gross record as well as single- and opening-day records.
It did, however, set an IMAX midnight-gross record with $2.3 million (previously held by Deathly Hallows – Part 2).
So, we have already broken the gross spending record, and are on course for breaking the net spending record of £250m which was set last year.
It was then shown on 9,200 screens at a record 4,366 theaters (a record first surpassed by Iron Man 2), also setting an opening- and single-day record gross, with $67.2 million (both records first surpassed by The Twilight Saga: New Moon), and an opening weekend record, with $158.4 million (first surpassed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2).
The weak value of NII to total gross revenue, recorded also in 2012, represents only 11.494%.
