Consider, for example, the specials offered on one recent day: Grilled vegetables and portobello mushrooms over baby greens with goat cheese; balsamic grilled shrimps over bay greens; and hickory-grilled cheeseburger on a hard roll.
The tempting menu is, not surprisingly, heavy on cheese, with a cheese board (selection of four cheeses), mac-and-cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, cheeseburger and poutine, a French Canadian dish of French fries smothered in curds and gravy.
On the menu are creamy tomato soup, a Caesar salad, a simple seafood platter, crab cakes, tagliatelle with tomato and basil, grilled sea bass, a cheeseburger and a number of choices "simply grilled or steamed" with sauces on the side.
What to order: Two bunless little bacon cheeseburgers, a grilled cheese with bacon, and two hot dogs.
"The burgers are fresher," Mr. Gallegos, 34, said after polishing off a cheeseburger topped with grilled mushrooms, onions and barbecue sauce and a side of fries ($5.19 for a cheeseburger with two patties; $2.69 for a regular-size order of fries).
Patty Melt The patty melt is a cross between the cheeseburger and the grilled cheese sandwich.
