Trying not to be tempted on my way out I caught a glimpse of a green spine with an apple on it - Virago.
It revived classic titles by Vera Brittain, Willa Cather, Edith Wharton, Rebecca West and Stevie Smith, among others, and became such a reliable brand that you could buy a book on the strength of the green spine alone.
