Last Friday, following a home-town service in which friends and collaborators (Elvis Costello, Boz Scaggs, Irma Thomas, Jimmy Buffett, Trombone Shorty) expressed debts and gratitude, Toussaint was fêted in what I can only assume was one of dopest second-line processions to ever wind across New Orleans.
Fans waved signs that read, "Don't glow away". As each float passed, the procession paused in front of the original crew members for the parade performers to bow in a tribute of gratitude and respect.
There was no procession.
Gratitude, huh?
