After application of DC voltage, many diffraction orders appear aside every pair of the main beams due to excitation of refractive index grating inside the cell (Fig. 5b).
Reasons leading to increasing modulation depth of the dynamical grating in the cells contained microstructured substrates are the subject for further research.
Abass et al. have numerically presented a study of complex dual interface grating system for thin film silicon solar cells which is just the combination of a plasmonic grating at the back side and a dielectric grating at the front side of the cell [8].
Two of four new stairways were built, as were 12 doors to the utility corridors and gratings at the top of the cells.
In a later report, however, Castelo-Branco et al. (2000b) analyzed the oscillatory properties of responses to plaid stimuli and found, as in the present study, that gamma patterning of the responses was prominent for gratings matching the preferences of the cells and nearly absent for the plaids (see also Figure 2 B of Castelo-Branco et al. 2000a).
For the conformal-structure thin film with dual photonic crystal of top NCs (with OT = 1.6, d1 = 300 nm) and bottom NCs (with OT = 1.6, d2 = 300 nm), both of the NCs have good optical absorption characteristics, which indicates the NCs with OT = 1.6 can act as not only top gratings but also bottom gratings of the thin-film solar cell.
Notice that there was a selective increase in power for single gratings that matched the orientation preferences of the cells (as measured by the area corresponding to the gamma band, from 30 to 90 Hz).
We relied on the response evoked by drifting sine-wave gratings, used for characterizing spatial frequency tuning of the cells, for classifying cells as simple or complex.
The responses to these gratings were also used to compute the orientation tuning curves of the cells.
One period grating consists of the grating ridge and the grating opening.
The absorption of grating surface cell is much broader and stronger than that of smooth surface on a-Si at the wavelength from 400 to 700 nm.
