That would also require some explanation of seeming anomalies, for example, the way the monthly table shows increases in temperatures between 1900 and 1940, followed by decreases until the late 1970s — facts that don't seem in lockstep with the graph of carbon dioxide concentrations.
For non-scientists like me, the New York Times coverage of these papers is very approachable and includes an excellent graph of carbon output by geographical region – I highly recommend reading it.

In the astronomy course I give about the solar system, I show the current version of the graph of atmospheric carbon dioxide that C. David Keeling and his successors have measured over the last 50 years in pure air from a high volcano in Hawaii, and it is simply frightening to see that curve keep going up and further up.

We have all seen the hockey stick graph of increasing atmospheric carbon and the measurements and projections of rising global temperatures, and most of us are aware of the impact these changes will have on freshwater.
I keep hoping that one more photo of an iceberg the size of Manhattan calving off of Greenland, one more stretch of record-breaking heat and drought and fires, one more graph of how atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen in the past century, will do the trick.
