No correlation was found between EGFR expression and histological grading in the different BTC subgroups.
In our previous study of in situ duct carcinoma [ 12], we identified considerable heterogeneity of grading with about 50% of the patients exhibiting more than one grade (different grades in the same duct, different grades in different ducts in the same area, or different grades in different areas).
The relations between the corresponding grades in the two different grading systems were considered to be as follows.
The variation in the proportion of each grade reported in the different studies can be explained by the variation in the grading system used and the difference in the patient cohorts, including age distribution, symptomatic versus screening population, early versus advanced breast cancer groups, and details of tissue fixation.
One approach to address the inconsistent use of grading systems would be for surgeons to use one system to grade lesions in the different knee compartments but to supplement this with additional methods of registration (video prints or tapes, drawings, etc).

Regarding the data of the human glioma tumour, it is quite rare to find a sample as the one studied in this work which shows different grades in different areas (two separated regions and two adjacent regions).
