A similar result was seen in the FFPE study, where tissues that were graded "Failed" RNA in their mirrored cryopreserved samples had an average of 81 ng/uL; whereas those with grades of "Passed" had an average of 120 ng/uL (Table 2).
For the 500 candidates, who had been just shy of earning a passing grade of 70, that additional right answer meant that they, too, had passed.
The overall numbers are likely to grow bleaker in 2004, when the passing grade of 55 is raised to 65 for the English test, and in 2005, when the passing grade is raised to 65 for the math test.
