The phrase 'grade line' is correct and usable in written English.
It is typically used to refer to a system of grading that is used to determine the quality or value of something. For example, "The quality of the product is judged against a strict grade line of excellence."

According to Richard Claghorn of the L.A. County Department of Regional Planning, "The existing grade lines drawn by the architect on the building elevations do not match the observed grade.
