The questionnaire is divided into five sections: GP visits and referral (Section A, 17 questions); tests at the hospital (Section B, 19 questions); diagnosis and treatment decision (Section C, 30 questions); treatment and discharge (Section D, 25 questions); and monitoring (Section E, 15 questions).
One pathologist (GP) performed frozen section by sampling of the fresh tissue in order to assess viability and cell composition and when feasible, a representative tissue sample was processed for RNA isolation for future investigations.
Having been trained in diagnosis and management of postpartum mood disorders (see next section), GPs were asked to conduct a diagnostic assessment on all women to confirm that their patients were depressed and would require treatment.
The proportions of GPs who would test patients for H. pylori infection in the 9 different clinical situations and the proportions of those who would offer treatment based on a positive test result, were summarized in Table- 1. 92 (84.4%) of the GPs answered this section.
