Having research credibility in the eyes of Māori participants is not only about good research processes and the right selection of research methods, but also about ensuring that the taonga (gift/treasure) of the participants' stories is shared and well-represented to the wider community.
Doing good research is an endless process, because every finding yields new questions that need to be answered.
Notably, where participants had some or good knowledge of the research process and where there was in-depth discussion (ie, during focus groups), participants were more likely to prefer generic consent, a finding that has also been identified elsewhere in the literature 37 and supports the need for information and education if increasing the acceptability of generic consent is deemed desirable.
The downside includes cultural resistance to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), clinical research process real-time compliance, inadequate information systems leading to unpredictable project milestones, a "no clock" application process in the regulatory machinery, and inconsistent time frames for export/import of clinical trial materials at the border.

Methodologists have proposed the formation of a good research question to maximize the process of developing a research protocol, the study design and analytical assessments needed for a study being undertaken [ 25, 26].
