Although almost everyone thinks the non-elected Senate representatives should go, views differ on whether, or how, their seats should be filled.
I am grateful to Thomas Friedman for articulating so well in his column "Where did 'we' go," (Views, Oct. 2) what I have been enduring during these past nine months, the denigration of our president, Barack Obama, and the office of the presidency.
Thomas Friedman's "Don't build up" and Garrison Keillor's "Time to go" (Views, Oct. 29) should be essential reading for President Obama as he grapples with what is probably the most important decision of his presidency: whether to maintain, increase or scale back the U.S. military and civilian presence in Afghanistan.
