For the past 12 days, a system costing more than $400 million and billed as a one-stop click-and-go hub for citizens seeking health insurance has thwarted the efforts of millions to simply log in.

If additional security checks are introduced for transferring passengers before they board their outbound flights, and the handling of such travellers thus slows down, some observers expect the airlines to switch to fewer flights in larger aircraft.So far, however, the biggest effect has been for airlines to drop non-stop ("point-to-point") flights rather than those that go through hubs.
With 200-300 seand and a range of over 8,500 miles, it allows airlines to offer long, direct flights that might otherwise have gone to hub airports for connecting services.
"Everybody knows that you can go to Stub Hub," Scott said.

"People who want to go via a hub rather than point-to-point tend to be lower- yielding, less loyal and they couldn't care less whether they went through Amsterdam or somewhere else, as long as it's cheap.
Imagine me going to hubs and whispering: "Oh, baby, take me anywhere".
About 30% of containers bound for India go via intermediate hubs fed by small vessels, either because big shipping lines do not want to deal with India's customs regime or because their ships are too big for the country's ports.
