We present a new method for determination of surface coverage of GNPs based on the linear relationship of the gold/sulfur (Au/S) ratio measured by ICP MS, and the GNP size, measured by TEM.
At higher specific surface area, the GNP size becomes smaller.
Jsc and η are found to increase upon increasing GNP size from ~ 20 to ~ 60 nm and decrease upon increasing GNP size from ~ 60 to ~ 90 nm.
These examples highlight the absence of any consensus concerning the extent of GNP size increase by the biomolecular corona.
