At a diagnostic cutoff index of 0.5, the sensitivity of the BALF-GM assay was higher than that of the serum-GM assay (85.7% versus 67.9%, P < 0.05), but the specificity of the BALF-GM assay is lower than that of the serum-GM assay (62.4% versus 93.5%, P < 0.05).
But the mean intensity of infection was higher in boys (463 eggs/gm) compared to girls (290 eggs/gm) (t = 4.383, p < 0.05).
Adjuplex-adjuvanted HA stimulated release of several Th1-associated cytokines (TNF-α, gamma interferon [IFN-γ], IL-12 p70, GM-CSF, and IL-2) to levels significantly higher than those for HA alone or MPLA-adjuvanted HA, and levels of IL-12 p70 and GM-CSF were higher than those for HA with alum (Fig. 4).
