A giant glacier in Greenland has started "calving" into the Atlantic, threatening to raise sea levels, scientists have warned.
"An eruption beneath a thick glacier often leads to a hazardous glacial flood that can begin within minutes to several hours after the eruption has started," Dr. Roberts said.
What we know is that the modest warming of the planet that has already occurred has started to melt land ice in Greenland, West Antarctica and a large majority of the world's high mountain glaciers.
