For example in basins with no compaction or any other geologic activity, distribution of pressure deviations from hydrostatic pressure is solely determined by surface relief and by the 3-D distribution of water density and rock permeability.
Moreover, when the unknown parameters are discrete (e.g., geologic facies distribution), conventional model calibration techniques that are designed for continuous parameters cannot be applied directly.
A clearer understanding of the geologic conditions and distribution characteristics of these giant oil and gas fields would offer valuable insights for further exploration of oil and gas resources in the PLP marine carbonate strata worldwide.

The definition of these partitions can be based on criteria that are applicable to all phylogenies analyzed e.g. geologic events or geographic distribution.
They constitute a new approach to predict the geologic heterogeneity and the spatial distribution of the diverse facies generated in a depositional system jointly with the distribution of the physical, chemical, and petrophysical characteristics of the sedimentary deposits in a quantitative way.
