In comparison, the average silent-site ptDNA diversity among seven different North American isolates of C. reinhardtii was estimated to be 1.4% [ 46], and a recent study on seven V. carteri geographical isolates found πsilent of the ptDNA to be ~0.065% [ 38].
Family studies of extended pedigrees selected from geographical isolate can be a powerful approach in identifying rare genetic variants of complex diseases such as psychotic disorders.
The array contains probes representing genome sequences of two distinct geographical isolates (i.e. 3D7 and HB3) and sub-telomeric var gene sequences of a third isolate (IT4) known to adhere in culture condition.

For our analysis we employed seven geographical isolates of C. reinhardtii, which are listed in Table 1.
Nevertheless, they necessarily have evolved as geographical isolates during a certain amount of time and cannot be considered as resulting from simple admixture of surrounding populations.
