Maxent identified suitable habitat for framework-forming cold-water corals throughout the world's oceans (Figure 5a), but individual species habitat suitability varied greatly by geographic region (Figures 5b 5f, 6 and Figure S7, Figure S8, Figure S9, Figure S10, Figure S11, Figure S12).
However, our findings indicate that the commonly used molecular marker ospA is not suitable for phylogeographic analyses of B. lusitaniae at a smaller geographic scale (Figure 3, Figure S9).
An unrooted phylogram constructed from HVRI sequences suggests the existence of two lineages within this subspecies, each distinct from the subspecies C. ypsilophora australis, and shows no clear geographic structure (Figure 2 and Figure 4).
Hence, if conditions like a low CTH or a large DWT led to a high potential larva density, then the actual larva density depended strongly on geographic location (Figures 10A, 10D).
Overall, there was limited association between virus clades and their originating geographic regions (Figures 1 and 2), indicating multiple introductions had occurred.

The relatively small amount of overlap seen in the thermal bathymetric niches during the spawning season or during participation in spawning aggregations (Figure 4) seems to be driven primarily by differences among the geographic regions (Figure 2).
Separate analysis of the two North American populations nonetheless reveals k = 2 as the most likely number of clusters, and population assignments coincide perfectly with geographic locations (Figure 1).
Furthermore, we recommend users take care when comparing location data with model predications generated using the 'Country/State/Region/Sea' geographic constraint (Figure 5).
Patterns of specific SNPs distinguish the APL1 haplotypes and are stable among mosquitoes of distinct geographic origins (Figure 4A).
