No matter how generous an organization's donors, the Internal Revenue Service requires party patrons to pay fair retail value for their fun, and that value is the non-tax-deductible portion of the ticket.
For many organizations, the Chair has traditionally been the board member who is the most generous to the organization or the one who has the most fundraising connections.
"Federal funding received by Habitat for Humanity supplements and leverages the support of our generous donors," the organization said.
And although the city, with its unprecedented budget surpluses, has been generous to several organizations, the great bulk of the money will have to be raised privately.
"The US doesn't have to actually create a program, but they can be generous to support organizations that already do support them," Kim says.
