Why the generational division?
Nor was the division generational.
We use empirical estimates of age-specific survival (Carlson et al. 2008) and age- and sex-specific fertility (Serbezov et al. 2010) in an individual-based simulation model to estimate the variance in lifetime reproductive success and obtain a generational Ne estimate.
BMI associated highly significantly with leptin, aPAI1, and CRP (and to a lesser extent adiponectin and insulin), as well as with PC1, which (like leptin) explains as much as 10% of the variance of BMI on top of the age, gender and generational effects.
