The first step in that direction was the Pentium M, which used less power and generated less waste heat than its predecessor, the Pentium III, but ran at only 65to85percentent of the Pentium III's top clock speed.
The patients using infusion pumps found them very convenient because of the short preparation time prior to administration, less utensils needed to mix the medicine and consequently the procedure took up less space in the household and generated less waste.

An industry organization called the Progressive Bag Alliance, however, counters on its Web site that plastic bags take less energy to produce than paper bags and generate less waste, a position backed by at least one study of the issue.
"If producers have to take back their cellphones, they have an incentive to make products that generate less waste and are easier to recycle," said Bette K. Fishbein, an economist who was lead author of the study.
While broadcast is akin to a buffet, cable is made to order; cable channels develop fewer ideas and approve more of the ones they do develop, generating less waste along the way.
This changes the market behaviour, and leads to more innovations, such as designing new product/service/system using re-usable parts, new electric motor concepts, or inventing new chemical production procedures generating less waste, and many more opportunities.
