Banks are more concerned with specific skills and with a wide choice of applicants those who already know the workings of, say, cash-flow modelling may well get the nod over generalist types.
Host generalist types such as C1, C3, C3h and C21 (25% of the Symbiodinium types) were found in multiple host genera.
That distinction, while important, still begs the question of whether independently evolved populations would achieve similar or diverse generalist types or admixtures of specialists under those respective scenarios.
This effect is therefore likely to crucially depend on the frequency of cycling between different modes of action, with more rapid rates of switching more strongly favouring generalist types of resistance.
