Among international guidelines, the most important gender document is Women, Girls, Boys and Men: Different Needs Equal Opportunities (IASC 2006) that explained the gender perspective in disaster response and rehabilitation programs through a series of practical techniques and concepts.
The correlation of loss of syndecan-1 with male gender documented in our study (Table 1) has not been observed in previous studies and the biological significance of this observation is unclear at this time.

6. Systematisation of gender in program documents All program and project documents need to be assessed for gender approach and special attention paid to work within community, family and government contexts so that the situation of women is addressed as part of a more holistic approach.
