This morning, iOS publisher/analytics provider Fuse Powered is announcing a two million dollar seed round lead by BlackBerry Partners Fund and NFQ Ventures.
Those apps have over 60 million downloads, and over one billion monthly sessions, explains Fuse Powered's website.
App discovery startup AppHero has been acquired by fellow Toronto-based company Fuse Powered, the company announced today, in a deal that will see the entire AppHero team including 19-year old founder Jordan Satok join Fuse Powered and develop its products for app publishing, marketing and distribution.
Founded as Ansca Mobile in 2008, it was first acquired by Fuse Powered, then by Perk.com, whose co-founder Roj Niyogi bought Corona when he left Perk last year.
I asked Satok, who started AppHero when he was just 17, if he's feeling entrepreneurial again, but he said he sees this as the chance to build something more long-term with his new partners at Fuse Powered.
An exit here for AppHero actually manages to help Satok and the company he built mitigate that risk entirely, while giving both them and new parent Fuse Powered a way to quickly chart a relatively uncomplicated path to monetization.
This is the second time Corona Labs has been acquired – in 2014, Fuse Powered bought the Palo Alto-based startup,with plans to develop on top of its platform in the future.
With this investment, Fuse Powered should be set for some time — especially considering that thanks to an accelerator program they won a few months back, they're already set with office space at an incubator right in the heart of San Francisco.
