During the 30-month study period, 32 patients fulfilled the indication criteria and underwent bedside diagnostic laparoscopy: 14 patients were admitted for major trauma, 12 for sepsis of unknown origin and six for complications due to prolonged extracorporeal circulation during cardiac surgery (Table 1).
