The general trend of increasing F content with depth results from F accumulation through water rock interaction, but the shape of the F profile depends on the connectivity of the fracture network close to the borehole.

These observations suggest that the left hand side of the F S F sim / d f profile is dominated by volume effects.
Owing to lack of one reducing end GlcNAc in the EndoS2 glycan profile, there is a loss in resolution, which explains why the A2G1 peak could not be separated in the EndoS2 chromatogram, but can be seen as two separate peaks in the PNGase F profile.
