(Frontline First June 2010): A general medical ward has closed, with 34 nursing and support posts lost.

The Royal College of Nursing's (RCN) Frontline First report earlier this year identified a loss of almost 4,000 experienced nursing posts since 2010.
The report, "The Medicated Child," revisits territory "Frontline" first examined in 2001, raising some familiar warning flags and some new ones.
Back at the frontline, first lieutenant Osman said morale was high among his men, who were posted along sandbagged embrasures or who sheltered under tarpaulins from the afternoon sun.
That will mean another reshuffle for the Leeds coach, Brian McDermott, who could hand a debut to the young forward, Cameron Smith, in the absence of so many frontline first-team players.
But Mr Brown will add: "We have to make tough choices in public spending and we will need the support of the Labour movement in protecting the frontline first... Don't risk your members' jobs or the nation's future with the Tories".
Recent examples of NHS cuts collected by the RCN's Frontline First campaign include 40 nurses' and midwives' posts going at West Cumberland hospital in Whitehaven and Cumberland infirmary in Carlisle in the last year, and Central and North West London NHS Foundation trust's plan to cut its matrons and lead nurses from 15 to seven in its acute mental health inpatient services.
"The RCN has also expressed concern at the skills mix in UK hospitals as trusts get rid of more senior nurses to save money, meaning there is far less experience on many wards, and the full extent of this will be revealed in our upcoming Frontline First report".
