Tracksuits are commonly associated with this trend, but can be miles away from even the beginning of being trendy.
In fact, the New York Times calls the look a "scruffy fashion statement" that has grown from it's trendy roots in Brooklyn to corporate board rooms, sports fields and beyond.
Their logo T-shirts and sweats, 50s-style bowling shirts and some pretty lurid dresses are just far enough away from mainstream to be trendy, but not so far off the mark they'll get you laughed at.
"I don't have to design them because they are trendy, or from the catwalk, or because they have the right number of colours," she says.
