Two of the seven mutants R237A and T437A still opened occasionally to the 3 nS level, but the frequency of sweeps with such events was slightly diminished relative to the wild-type PapC usher at ±90 mV suggesting that these mutants are likely to be insignificantly different from the wild-type PapC usher.
The tunable filter passband is thus given by where σ filter is the standard deviation of the Gaussian and ωc is the instantaneous central frequency of the sweep.
For either the hitchhiking or pseudohitchhiking model to dramatically reduce polymorphism in regions of reduced recombination, the frequency of selective sweeps must be high enough to make recent sweeps likely in genomic regions of low recombination.
