But when orders come from countries with historically high fraud levels, the company sends the orders to its security department for additional fraud screening.
"Online merchants in the region face traditional issues related to risk management as fraud screening is lacking in the GCC," he said, referring to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
One downside to fraud screening is the potential of turning away legitimate customers.
Claiming to offer "seamless checkout integration" and instant credit decisions, other features include real time reporting and account management, support for multiple sales channels and integrated fraud screening.
"Currently CashShield caters to securing against payment and account fraud, but is also working on adding on different fraud screening abilities to secure all vulnerable entries to fraud, including click fraud, IoT authentication, claims fraud and KYT [know your transaction]," founder and chief executive officer Justin Lie told TechCrunch in an email.
"Other solutions such as Signifyd, Riskified and Forter still need to deploy humans to complete their fraud screening process, but is easy for fraudsters to get ahead of as fraudsters themselves are using machine learning to launch sophisticated coordinated fraud attacks," he said.
While e-filing and a lackluster IRS fraud screening process are the openings that thieves exploited, and continue to exploit, the IRS has improved its thief-nabbing game.
Based on its own procedures for screening fraud, Hewlett-Packard rejected those cards, "but the bank kept approving them for authorizations," he said.
Culling information from the databases is one prong in an assessment, as lenders vet potential customers and screen for fraud.
