The fund-management industry, with trillions of dollars of other people's money in its care, has seen surprisingly little fraud, points out Alan Brown, global chief investment officer of State Street, an American fund-management firm.
Hulu's "Fyre Fraud" points out that Jerry Media, whose employees created Fyre Festival's promotional videos featuring models Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski, is one of the companies that produced Netflix's "Fyre". As a result, "Fyre Fraud" is much more wary of Jerry Media's involvement in the scam.
"We operate on a 2-basis-point fraud level," he tells me, meaning that for every 100% of transactions, on average 0.02% are fraudulent.
The offline average for chip-and-pin is between six and eight basis points, he says, and U.S. companies using magnetic stripe and swiping services typically operate on a 30-basis-point fraud level.
