A new study claiming to find disadvantages for children raised by same-sex parents is attracting criticism from social scientists, who say that the research does not actually address how well gay and lesbians parent.
In June, sociologist Mark Regnerus published a study which claimed to find disadvantages for children raised by same-sex parents, though the results have since been deemed "flawed" by a number of high profile social scientists.
A recent review by Puhl & Heuer (2009) finds disadvantages for obese people in numerous areas, including employment, health care settings as well as in interpersonal relationship aspects [ 4].
