He sent a memo to the U.N.'s missing-persons office in Kosovo, asserting that, in 1999 and 2000, between one hundred and three hundred prisoners were taken to Albania, where some were dispatched to a "makeshift clinic" that extracted "body organs from the captives". Gene Evans, spokesman for the Oregon Department of Human Services, said the agency forwarded the memo to the Oregon Justice Department for review.
NPR CEO Vivian Schiller forwarded the memo, sent initially to news staff, to the entire organization, telling employees that the note applied to "digital, programming/AIR, legal and communications" employees in addition to the news staff.
"We'd ask that whether you're talking to a dealer, reviewing dealer advertising, or speaking with friends and family, that you communicate our brand as Chevrolet moving forward," said the memo, which was signed by Alan Batey, vice president for Chevrolet sales and service, and Jim Campbell, the G.M. division's vice president for marketing.
At the time Blumenthal wrote and forwarded the memos, he was working as a full-time employee for the Clinton Foundation, pulling down a monthly salary of $10,000, according to Politico chief investigative reporter Ken Vogel.
"They see increased pressure and realize a political downside to not moving forward with tankers," the memo continued.
Creagh said that while Michigan's implementation of federal lead and copper regulations "was ineffective in protecting public health", he also blamed the EPA for a lack in urgency in addressing the problem by not forwarding the June memo until November.
"Regardless of which candidate each of us supported as individuals, the only way to move forward is to move forward together," Cook said in the memo.
