The first expert consultation was designed to give them the opportunity to comment on the results of the systematic review, to identify considerations beyond the scientific evidence of importance for the formulation of the recommendation, and to check first opinions about the phrasing of a recommendation.
The process and procedures for the development of the guidelines complied with the WHO Guidelines Review Committee requirements, including the establishment of a guidelines development panel, a systematic review of the evidence, and formulation of recommendations using a structured process [ 8].
At all three steps of this activity, which included initial discussions by the steering committee, formulation of recommendations by an expanded working group and development of treatment recommendations for all three entities, axSpA, peripheral SpA and PsA, unanimous agreement was attained.
