This compartment, the periplastidal compartment, shows different degrees of reductions as in two algal groups the former nucleus is still present in a minimized form, called nucleomorph, whereas most others have lost the genetic system completely.
These two areas contribute to the development of numerous brain structures, including the neocortex, striatum, thalamus, septum and olfactory bulb for the former and nucleus accumbens, bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, hippocampus, amygdala, striatum and globus pallidus for the latter [36], [37].
Cooper and colleagues (59) showed that, in mouse hearts from the highest-expressing line, a greater fraction of nuclei contained foci than in the moderate-expressing line and that, in the former, multiple foci per nucleus are formed, whereas only single foci per nucleus are usually formed in the latter (Supplementary Material, Table S1).

Compartmentalization is also very different in these organisms, with the former having a well-formed nucleus.
Removal of the stimulus results in disappearance of the cytoplasmic aggregation and a return of the nucleus to its former position [ 37, 38].
