Specifically, something tells me that this is an A/B comparison experiment in which some people are presented the passage in a "formal" font, and others are presented the passage in an "informal" font, and the "optimism" results will be compared based on the presentation condition — otherwise, what is Comic Sans doing in the New York Times, which should know better?
