This paper is based upon one of the most recent international examples of a foresight exercise employed to examine uncertainty – specifically that which concerns uncertainty over the nature and extent of future demand for car travel.
The capacity of foresight, for example, can make for weightier interests, and so human beings with this or other forms of cognitive sophistication are harmed more by death (Rachels 1990, pp.186 194; Regan 2004, pp. 304 and 324; and DeGrazia 1996).

Meanwhile, the so-called Bayesian statistics is gaining popularity as alternative foresight tool (for example, to predict the outcome of presidential elections).
Twitter provides the opportunity to receive real-time feedback on ideas, to involve potentially large number of participants in a scenario process, and to disseminate the results of a Foresight, building for example on a previous network analysis.
Hester also highlighted his company's pending, $5.4 billion purchase of graphics chipmaker ATI Technologies as an example of foresight in seeing where the chip market is headed.
Finally, the following are some examples of national foresight projects/studies,3 the results of which could be used on a corporate level: The well-grounded Japanese foresight programme [31], The German BMBF foresight process 2007 2009 [32], and The study of the radical technologies of the future commissioned by the Parliament of Finland's Committee for the Future in 2013 [33].
This paper shares recent examples of global Foresight that have been developed by the OECD to help national governments to appreciate and prepare for this shift, both individually and via international cooperation.
Moreover, in a rare example of legislative foresight, politicians in many countries have anticipated the problem.
To give one example, for the Foresight project on Migration and Global Environmental Change, we brought together around 350 leading experts and stakeholders from 30 countries to look 50 years into the future.
