The user can easily concatenate and merge both of these outputs for all of the sequences into one file.
This result reinforces the statement made by Thébault, i.e. that several modularity optimisation methods will return best modular structures that widely differ in their properties; thus, there is a need for a posteriori comparison of these outputs.
The KCs in the posterior layer of the lobes (the α/βp neurons) have their dendrites in the dorsal accessory calyx, a region spatially segregated from the dendritic arbors of other KCs (see Figure 7A ), and their activity is decreased in response to odors (Perisse et al., 2013 ), suggesting a distinct role for these output neurons.
As is typical for untargeted metabolomic workflows, these outputs of XCMS are not definitive phenotypic readouts but rather leads that require further investigation to determine their chemical identities and validate their biological significance.
