We know the rest of the story, including a meme-adverse fact: For close to seven years, the Mac has consistently gained market share at the expense of PC clones.
Apple lost the business market to the IBM PC, launched the same year, and a rapidly expanding market of PC clones.
This opened the door for Honeywell, which started to make mainframes that were wholly compatible with IBM's products but cost less, and eventually, for the appearance of IBM PC clones.
