Access to realistic kinetic data is important for predictions of optimal reaction conditions for the pretreatment of biomass for bioethanol processes, which is required to minimise production of inhibitory compounds and to maximise sugar and ethanol yields.
Several optimization steps allowed for the selection of optimal reaction conditions to finally provide a simple and efficient process for the removal of SGs from crude biodiesel.
During the investigation of optimal reaction conditions for HP0593 MTase activity, it was found that divalent metal ions Mn2+, Mg2+, and Co2+ stimulated the methylation activity (5.0-fold, 3.5-fold and 3.0-fold, respectively) (Fig. 8A), whereas Ca2+, Zn2+, and Ni2+ ions do not affect the methylation activity of HP0593 MTase (Fig. 8A).
